Galdinopolis
Part of the 5th District of Nova Friburgo, this district’s headquarters is Lumiar. Galdinopolis has a fixed population of 200, and a temporary population of around 300. The village was named after Doctor Galdino do Vale, an old physician in Nova Friburgo. The name of the village used to be Ponte Nova. We will get to it two kilometers inside a right unpaved road we take at kilometer 15 on RJ142 road (Mury/Lumiar).
It is crossed by Rio Macae, where the waters are suitable for a dive, forming perfect pools. Galdinopolis was colonized by the Swiss and the Germans, like all other places in the region. In the center of the village are a catholic church, a school and two very well designed grocery stores that also operate bars. There is a place called Cachoeira Branca, a private property with the infra-structure for river beach inns. After all, it is a lot of nature, great part of which inside the Atlantic Forest, very appropriate for the rest of those living a hectic life in the big city.
