Not long ago, São Pedro daSerra was familiar to only a handful of priviledged. Now the village has become more and more famed for its principal characteristic: preserved nature and excellent choices of lodging and fine quality restaurants. Visit and fall in love!
Sao Pedro da Serra is the headquarters of the 7th District of the county of Nova Friburgo. The village presents a number of sites of attraction, like the Center, Bocaina dos Blaudts, Bocaina dos Mafforts, Bocaina dos Knupps, Alto da Tapera and Vargem Alta (Bocaina stands for mountain gap). Sao Pedro da Serra is a short distance from the coastal area of Rio de Janeiro known as The Great Lakes Region, via the Serra Mar Road. Completely paved, it is only 42 kilometers down the mountain to Casimiro de Abreu, where we will be between 60 kilometers and 100 kilometers from the beaches of Rio das Ostras, Macae, Buzios, Cabo Frio, Arraial do Cabo, Sao Pedro da Aldeia and Araruama. Nature in Sao Pedro da Serra is exuberant. It is possible to connect with it taking walks, joining ecological trekking, practicing x-rated sports, riding SUV’s and horses.
The region is mountainous, with temperatures varying along the year from 6 to 32 degrees celsius. With the year average around 22 degrees. The village average altitude is 800 meters above sea level, 150 meters above Lumiar. The highest point is Pico da Siberia, about 1,500 meters. Pedra dos Mafforts, near the center, is 1,300 meters high.
