The Atlantic Forest has the biggest diversity of trees in the world, possessing the record of trees per hectare. It even has more types of trees than the Amazon Forest.
Another important factor for the preservation of the Atlantic Forest is the fact that 53% of its trees, 64% of its palm trees and 74,4% of its bromelias are endemic, that is, they only exist in the Atlantic Forest.
Regarding the rich fauna existing in the Atlantic Forest, what is impressive, once again, is the enormous quantity of endemic specimen. It is the case of 73 different mammals, among them 21 species and subspecies of primates and 160 species of birds.
Within the amphibians the numbers are even more surprising. For the 183-catalogued species, 91,8% is considered endemics.
In comparison to the Amazon Forest, the Atlantic Forest presents a bigger biological diversity. 215 mammal' species are catalogued in the Atlantic Forest against 353 in Amazonia, considering that the Amazon Forest is four times larger than the original area of the first one.
For all this, come visit and have the pleasure to come into contact with the richest ecosystem and, unfortunately, the most threatened in the planet.
